چکیده

Weak gravitational lensing from large-scale structure enhances and reduces the fluxes from extragalactic point sources with an r.m.s. amplitude of order 15%. In cosmic microwave background (CMB) experiments, sources exceeding some flux threshold φc are removed, which means that lensing will modulate the brightness map of the remaining unresolved sources. Since this mean brightness is of order 100μK at 30 GHz for a reasonable flux cut, one might be concerned that this modulation could cause substantial problems for future CMB experiments. We present a detailed calculation of this effect and, fortunately, find that its power spectrum is always smaller than the normal point source power spectrum. Thus although this effect should be taken into account when analysing future high-precision CMB measurements, it will not substantially reduce the accuracy with which cosmological parameters can be measured. No. Weak gravitational lensing from large-scale structure enhances and reduces the fluxes from extragalactic point sources with an r.m.s. amplitude of order 15%. In cosmic microwave background (CMB) experiments, all sources exceeding some flux threshold φc are removed, which means that lensing will modulate the brightness map of the remaining unresolved sources. Analyzing weak lensing of the cosmic microwave background using the likelihood function

Future experiments will produce high-resolution temperature maps of the cosmic microwave background ~CMB! and are expected to reveal the signature of gravitational lensing by intervening large-scale structures. We construct all-sky maximum-likelihood estimators that use the lensing effect to estimate the projected density ~convergence! of these structures, its power spectrum, and cross-correlat...

Observing high redshift galaxy clusters through lensing of the Ostriker - Vishniac effect

In this paper we study the possibility of detecting lensing signals in high-resolution and high-sensitivity CMB experiments. At scales below 1 arcmin, the CMB background is dominated by the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect in clusters and by Ostriker-Vishniac effect distortions elsewhere. Assuming the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich component in clusters can be removed, we focus on the Ostriker-Vishniac effect and...

CMBPol Mission Concept Study: Gravitational Lensing

Gravitational lensing of the cosmic microwave background by large-scale structure in the late universe is both a source of cosmological information and a potential contaminant of primordial gravity waves. Because lensing imprints growth of structure in the late universe on the CMB, measurements of CMB lensing will constrain parameters to which the CMB would not otherwise be sensitive, such as n...
